Who we are
HillBrook is a community-oriented behavior management program designed for adults (18+) with developmental disabilities in Los Angeles County. Our goal is to help individuals become engaged and positive members of their communities by cultivating essential life skills and promoting personal development.
We focus on empowering participants through instruction in:
- Effective communication and frustration management
- Coping mechanisms and emotional self-regulation
- Safety awareness and skills for independent living
- Self-advocacy and informed decision-making
- Job readiness, career preparation, and volunteer involvement
- Establishing and maintaining healthy, meaningful relationships
At HillBrook, we believe that behavior is a form of communication. By actively listening and addressing individual needs, we create a space for positive expression, which can lead to a gradual decrease in challenging behaviors.
Our methodology is based on Person-Centered Practices (PCT) and Positive Behavior Supports (PBS). Each participant benefits from a personalized intervention plan developed by our Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), ensuring that their specific goals, strengths, and needs are prioritized.
Through education, empowerment, and community engagement, HillBrook is committed to helping individuals gain the independence, confidence, and skills necessary for a fulfilling, inclusive, and productive life.
